This is How Modi Was Welcomed in Kathmandu for 18th SAARC Summit [With Video]

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived Kathmandu for attending the 18th SAARC Summit going to start tomorrow for next two days.

PM Modi was welcomed by Bamdev Gautam in Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

During the courses of the next three days, Mr Modi is scheduled to meet Nepal PM Sushil Koirala and other Nepali leaders on Tuesday itself.

COMPLETE DETAILS: Arrival Timing of SAARC Heads of Govts

Arrival timing of heads of 8 nations for 18th SAARC Summit going to be held from Nov 26 in Nepal's Capital Kathmandu. The landing time is for Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu.

The arrival on Tuesday will see SriLankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa at first who will land at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 9:30 am followed by Afghanistan’s President Ashraf Ghani at 10:45 am.

Similarly, Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan will land at 11:45 am whereas Maldives’ President Abdulla Yameen will come Nepal at 12:05 pm.

Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi is expected to arrive between 3 pm to 3:30 pm who will inaugurate the Trauma Center near Bir Hospital build with Indian assistance and hand over a chopper to Nepal Army at Tundikhel at 4 pm.

Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif will arrive at 3:45 pm, while Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina will be last to arrive at 4:15 pm.

The arrival time of Mahindra Rajapaksa, Ashraf Ghani, Tshering Tobgay, Abdulla Yameen, Narendra Modi, Nawaz Sharif and Sheikh Hasina.

Foreign Minister of Maldives Arrives Kathmandu for 18th SAARC Summit

Days ahead of 18th SAARC Summit, Ms Dunya Maumoon has arrived in Kathmandu to participate in the 18th SAARC Summit as a representative from Maldives.

Joint Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rameswor Paudel is set to welcome the SAARC foreign ministers at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

Maumoon is the second Foreign Minister to arrive in Kathmandu after Bhutan's Foreign Minister Lyonpo Rinzin Dorje who arrived Nepal's capital - Kathmandu on November 23, 2014. SAARC Summit is going to be held on City hall at Kathmandu from November 26, 2014 for 2 days.

Sri Lankan President To Arrive Tuesday; Will Visit Religious Places

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa is scheduled to visit Nepal on Tuesday for attending 18th SAARC Summit starting few days ahead. President MR will visit Buddhist monastery of Chabahil (Charumati) in Kathmandu which has been a symbol of historic relations between Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Charumati, a daughter of Emperor Ashoka who set up the Monastery 2,300 years ago, brought Buddhism to Nepal while Sanghamitra and son Mahendra brought Buddhism to Sri Lanka.

The visit on the occasion of the meeting is President Rajapaksa's second visit to Nepal. The President and the First lady visited Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha in 2009.

All necessary preparations for Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa's Lumbini visit that is going to take place on the eve of SAARC 18th Summit have been completed.

Special attention has been focused on Lumbini with the confirmation of visits of Sri Lanka's President Rajapaksha and India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi to this historic place and security here has been beefed up, keeping in mind the visit of SAARC special guests. Lumbini is all got ready to welcome the SAARC special guests to the town.

Even-Odd Traffic System for 18th SAARC Summit Affecting Life in Kathmandu

On the occassion of 18th SAARC Summit going to be held from November 26 to 27, 2014, the Government of Nepal (GoN) has made rule for operation of vehicles based on odd and even number plate system effective from Nov 24 to 28.

The numebring system is done on alternate days with the motive for reducing the traffic congestion in the capital's roads to tighten security for the 18th Summit of the South Asian Association fore Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

The new system for traffic system has halted the life of number of citizens due to reduction on number almost by half than on usual days.

Due to reduction on the number of public vehicles, passengers of Kathmandu are having hard time catching vehicles to work and heading offices. Also, the running public vehicles are carrying very large number of passengers due to which citizens are compelled to head towards workspace on foot.

The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, Kathmandu stated that the odd and even number plate system which came into effect from the morning of Mangsir 8th, 2071 have not encountered any problems managing the traffic so far.

Some vehicles not conforming to the odd and even number plate system at sensitive areas of the capital were turned back while vehicles found violating this rule would be subjected to action from tomorrow.

Besides for general public vehicles, those used for essential services , the media, ambulances, mortuary vans, fire vehicles, vehicles used in blood transfusion services, vehicles carrying hospital and diplomatic mission staffs, vehicles carrying tourists and marriage ceremony can run freely.

Nepali Protests as Modi Reschedules Tour Cancelling Visits to 3 Places

People of Janakpur and other places in Nepal are protesting as soon as India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cancellation his scheduled visit to these towns spread.

PM Modi's visit to 3 different places was scheduled during his trip to Nepal to attend 14th SAARC Summit to be held in Kathmandu from November 26-27, 2014.

The Indian external affairs ministry confirmed the cancellation due to "unavoidable domestic commitments and pre-scheduled travels within" India.

During his last visit to Kathmandu last month, Prime Minister Modi had expressed a desire to visit other places in Nepal, including Janakpur, Lumbini and Muktinath.

There has been widespread interest in Prime Minister's schedule in the upcoming visit to Nepal for the SAARC summit.

32 luxury cars Arrives Kathmandu for 18th SAARC Summit

The Nepal Government (NG) imported 32 luxury cars on lease targeting the SAARC summit has been brought from India are en route to the capital from Bhairahawa Revenue Office with high security management at 10:00 this morning.

The BMW and Mercedes cars were installed with Nepalese number plate at the Revenue Office, Bhairahawa and the convoy moved to Kathmandu for the high profile guests of the SAARC summit as per the government decision, under secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The vehicles would be returned to India on December 2 with the completion of SAARC summit.

नेपाल सरकारले आसन्न सार्क शिखर सम्मेलनलाई ध्यानमा राखी भारतबाट ३२ वटा साना सुविधायुक्त सवारीसाधन भाडामा ल्याएको छ ।

भारतबाट ल्याउने क्रममा सोमबार बेलहिया नाका हुँदै भैरहवा भन्सार कार्यालयमा आएका ती साना सवारी आज बिहान १० बजे सुरक्षासहित काठमाडौँ प्रस्थान गरेका छन् ।

नेपाल प्रवेशसँगै सरकारी नम्बर प्लेट लगाएर बिएमडब्लु र मर्सिडिज कम्पनीका ती सवारीसाधन प्रहरीको सुरक्षामा काठमाडौँ पठाइएको छ । प्रहरीले भैरहवा भन्सार कार्यालयबाटै सुरक्षा दिएको छ ।
