26K Security Force Deployed for 18th SAARC Summit

Nepal government (NG), Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) is planning to deploy more than 26,000 security personnel from Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and National Intelligence Department inside Kathmandu Valley for the upcoming 18th Saarc Summit beginning the security rehearsal on Tuesday.

Nepal Army is set to coordinate the overall security of the summit while Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department will perform supporting duty.
The office has used all the state mechanisms to ensure security of the guests and Nepal Police has asked 300 personnel from the reserve force in various districts to arrive in the Capital for the summit.
The security around the summit venue, hotels where the guests will be staying and the retreat venue has also been heightened employing largest number of security forces after the Constituent Assembly election that was conducted in November 2013.

Ministry of Home Affairs bringing all reserve police to Ktm for SAARC

To bolster security for 18th SAARC Summit in Kathmandu, the Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal is bringing all reserve police personnel deployed in various part of the country to the Valley.

While some 700 police personnel have been moved to Kathmandu from various neighboring districts, including Kavrepalanchowk, Nuwakot, Dhading and Sindhupalchowk, nearly 300 personnel have brought here from the five regional police headquarters, according to the Home Ministry.

The trained police personnel will jointly participate in security rehearsals in Kathmandu starting Tuesday.
